For Patients
Participating in a clinical study is a personal, informed decision. Here we explain the process step by step, and the rights that protect you at all times.
Supported from start to finish
From the first call to the closing visit, you will always know what comes next, why, and who to talk to. Our team is available to answer questions in English and Spanish.
Nothing happens without your consent: every study procedure is explained before it is performed, and you decide freely at every stage. And if you have no way to get here, we provide free transportation for those who need it.

We talk about your health and check the study criteria. Free, by phone or at the site.
Informed consent
We explain the entire study — purpose, procedures, risks, and rights — and answer all your questions before you sign.
Active participation
You attend the protocol’s scheduled visits, with periodic assessments and direct access to the study team.
Follow-up and closure
At the end, we hold the closing visit, document your participation, and guide you on next steps.
Protected at all times
Clear information
The right to receive all study information in understandable language, in your language, before and during your participation.
Withdraw at any time
The right to leave the study at any moment, without giving a reason and without affecting your medical care.
Confidentiality
The right to have your health information protected under HIPAA and used only for the study purposes you authorized.
Free, unlimited transportation
No way to get to the site? We will take you. We pick up participants who need it and take them back home for every study visit — at no cost and with no limit on trips.
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions from people considering participation.
It depends on the study. Some require a confirmed diagnosis (for example, type 2 diabetes); others, such as observational studies, are open to the general community.
It is a conversation and a document that explain the study in plain language: its purpose, procedures, potential risks and benefits, and your rights. You only sign once all your questions have been answered — and you can change your mind later.
We review your medical history, check the study criteria, and perform the protocol’s initial assessments (for example, blood tests or blood pressure readings). Those results determine whether you can participate.
Don’t worry: we offer transportation for participants who need it, at no cost. We pick you up for your study visits and take you back home. Just let us know when scheduling your appointment.
If you authorize it, we are glad to coordinate with your regular doctor. Participating in a study does not replace your routine medical care.
The team performs a closing visit, explains next steps, and documents the end of your participation. When the study allows it, we also share the overall results with you.
